Course reflection

There are a lot of activities were done in this course. According to our field which objects developing the communication skills, we have to know how to deal with people and communicate with them in eminent-educated manner.

In this course, I harvested a lot of meaningful ideas that absolutely educated and awarded me of many situations that I thought it were the right way, but in fact it is not. For instance, cover letter and CVs, before this course, I thought CV is enough to submit it to any organization that I plan to work for, but in fact, the cover letter might be helpful to employ me. In addition, how can I organize a meeting. There are several tasks need to defined it like, place, date/time of meeting, venue, group members, agenda and objectives, these all need to be known. The major point in the meeting is the time, all members must respect the time and have to present in pointed time. Group members consist of chair, minute’s taker, and participants. Also in this course I developed my search skills. I and my participants made a project for IT security and its components. In part of project, we made a presentation associated with the project.

In conclusion, this course was very useful. It awarded me from several things that were not in my imagination. It raised my self-confidence in presenting a presentation; it gave me some tips like eye-contact for good communication and starting with short-self identifying will be better than bored-long starting. I believe that this course will help me in my future’s presentation and meeting efficiently.

1             Welcome, Apologies, Minute taker – Meeting opened at 3:10 pm by chair.

2             Student success – increasing core skills

 

·         Farah and Omar suggested having trainings programs during the year.

·         Farah, Omar and Humaid discussed about developing student interest fields and communication skills.

·         Omar suggested providing lecture awareness to advice students.

·         Khalifa and Farah discussed student ambitions.

·         Action item: Farah will propose financing the training classes through ADMC management.

·         Action item: Humaid will do surveys.
 

·         Action item: Omar will provide teacher’s awareness suggestions and ideas. 

 

4          Recommendations – discussion points

·         Report should be presented to Academic Services.

·         Khalifa will talk with supervisors to offer classes in wanted date.

·         Farah will ask Academic services to send emails to students to collect voices opinions.

                In English 307’s course, I have take several tasks about English communication. One of these tasks was how meeting works and what steps need to be taken.

                Our meeting topic was talk about how to develop student’s core skills during studies and in work fields. Our group was containing four participants and I was the minute’s taker. To have a good meeting, we have to know the time and place of the meeting includes effective participants. If the chair have a good leader behavior, he will organize the meeting very well. Agenda was written by me. Participants were discuss about some development techniques and what solutions need to be taken. Action points sorts participants's jobs and what they need to do, which will be talking about in next meeting and what they have done.

                This course showed us how we can make a success meeting in the future and how to deal with the time and respect it.
